Sanjiv Anand, Chairman

Sanjiv has over 30 years of management consulting experience across the globe. He started his career in the US, where for over 7 years he developed strategy for US telecom and electronic markets. Subsequently he set up operations in Asia, and the Middle East. He has assisted the Board's and CEO's of leading global and regional companies develop and execute business strategy, transformation business operations, and address strategic HR and restructuring challenges. He is an international expert on the  Balanced Scorecard having executed over 200 scorecards. Sanjiv has driven over $1 Billion of FDI into Asia, and has assisted private equity firms in over $300 million in investments. He is well published, and has been a key note speaker at global conferences. A former YPO & WPO Chair, he is the author of “Unlocking Human Capital to Drive Performance: A CEO Handbook” published by McGraw Hill. His latest title “Execution Excellence | Making Strategy Work using the Balanced Scorecard” globally released by J.Wiley, world’s largest publisher of business books. Sanjiv also chairs the NYU Stern India Alumni Group.

Norman Gilchrist is the Former CEO of American Express Bank. He has over 30 years’ experience in Banking & Financial services and has worked on assignments in the areas of Customer Service Strategy, Consumer Channel & Product Strategy, Customer Relationship Management, Operations & Technology integration, Selection & Implementation of Banking Systems, and Business Process Re-engineering. He was responsible for successful integration of AEB technology & operations into Standard Chartered Bank. While at Amex, he was also responsible for review of compliance risk management program and successful integration of B2B Compliance organization over 20 countries. Dean Thomas F. Cooley, Senior Advisor

Thomas F. Cooley is the Paganelli-Bull Professor of Economics at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University, as well as a Professor of Economics in the NYU Faculty of Arts and Science. He served as Dean of NYU Stern from 2002 to January 2010. Before joining Stern, he was a Professor of Economics at the University of Rochester, University of Pennsylvania, and UC Santa Barbara. Prior to his academic career, he was a systems engineer for IBM Corporation. He is a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is also the former President of the Society for Economic Dynamics, a Fellow of the Econometric Society. He has served on the board of Thornburgh Mortgage Co. and the Board of Managers of Standard & Poor’s and as an advisor to many firms. Together with Stern colleagues he edited and wrote the book, Regulating Wall Street: The Dodd-Frank Act and the New Architecture of Global Finance (Wiley, November 2010).

He is an advisor to certain private as well as public institutions and is active as an officer for his college and MBA alumni associations' Korea chapters. He is also known to be a China specialist having assisted major US and international corporations enter the Chinese market. Steve is fluent in Mandarin. His global clients include Caterpillar, Bristol Myers Squibb, Sara Lee, DuPont, Emerson Electric and Whirlpool. He has worked across a range of industries including consumer goods, electronics, chemicals, textiles, automotive, telecommunications, real estate and new media. In addition, he has worked closely with regional companies, particularly in the Middle East, with expansion into new regional and global markets.

Prior to joining Cedar, He was the Head of Business Transformation at Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT), a FTSE 250 Financial Services firm headquartered in London. Earlier, he was an integral member of the team that set up Cognizant`s Business Consulting practice in USA and India. He was based in Zurich to lead the business development, engagement delivery and team development for Cognizant Business Consulting. He helped ICICI Bank transform their Trade Finance function from a branch-based model to a centralized model. His clients include Merrill Lynch, MetLife, Union Bank of California, Sallie Mae, Century 21, Credit Suisse, Aegon, Glaxo SmithKline, Cable & Wireless, Coach, Novartis, ING Group, Lloyds Group and ACI Payment Solutions. He is a certified PMP Practitioner, a TOGAF Certified Business Architect and is also trained in the Six Sigma Black Belt program.

Ashish Desai, Director

Ashish brings over 19 years of experience across various domains of Retail banking including products, credit, liability and wealth management, branch operations, operational risk assessment, compliance – KYC / AML, cognitive analytics and branchless banking. He was instrumental in setting up the consumer banking operations of a leading South African retail bank in India. Having worked in across multiple geographies including UK, the African continent, Jordan, Egypt, UAE, Pakistan, Cambodia, Italy and India, he brings a unique perspective of knowledge of regulations and consumer preferences in developed as well as emerging market. He is a Postgraduate in Management from JBIMS, India and holds a Bachelors degree in Engineering from VJTI. Ashish is a recognised writer in the area of Inclusive finance, digital strategy and payments.

Lionel Platteuw, Associate Director, Europe

Lionel has 20 years experience working mainly in Europe in industry research, strategy and representation. He specializes in European industry regulations and European Union affairs, particularly in industrial area. Sectors covered include steel, construction, water, environmental technology, packaging, etc. He has specific experience of industry research, securing European funding for international research, and monitoring European legislation as well as policies. He is currently also a Director of EUnited, the European Engineering Industries Association and acts as an adviser to trade associations in environmental technology and packaging machinery. He helped to establish a non-profit European organization focused on water issues between 2007 and 2008. He previously worked for Atkins Management Consultants, first in the UK and then managing Atkins Belgium between 1993 and 2000. Prior to that he worked with Technomic, (now part of Cedar).

Robert Mulder, Associate Director, Africa

Robert has over 25 years of management and consulting experience. His projects include Business Strategy, Balanced Scorecard, Process Reengineering and Corporate Governance. He has conducted over 50 Balanced Scorecard related projects. He has experience across Africa and has conducted numerous strategy consulting and strategic research engagements over the past 15 years in South Africa and other sub-Saharan African countries, such as Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya as well as in the UK and Europe. His experience has been across industry sectors including information technology, automotive, banking, chemicals, and biotechnology. His specific experience in financial services relates to developing balanced scorecards in a large retail bank in South Africa as well developing scorecards for seven business units, including corporate, in South Africa’s largest bank. He was Chairman of the Strategic Management Society of Southern Africa for 3 years. Rob is an active member and Fellow of the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa.

Jorge Frederico M. Landmann – Associate Director, Sao Paulo

Jorge started his professional career as a consultant and project manager for Booz, Allen & Hamilton International, based in Brazil and developing projects throughout Brazil and South America. He has specific experience in the area of market feasibility and strategy in the automotive industry including OEMs and component suppliers. Mr. Landmann is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Roberto Alejandro Diaz Welsh – Associate Director, Mexico

Robert is a specialist in the areas of strategy, industrial market research and commercialization. Prior to Cedar, he created and managed Volkswagen’s Latin American dealer customer satisfaction system. He was also coordinator of the National Actuarial Consulting Board for government policy. Mr. Diaz Welsh is fluent in Spanish and English.
